A red door and a chimney you can smell from the corner. We are four minutes' walk from the Museum Luas stop, five from the Smithfield square, and roughly forty seconds from three very good pubs.

Where we are, when we're lit
The kitchen answers the phone between 15:00 and 17:00 on service days — before that we are elbow-deep in the fire, after that we are feeding people. Email is read every morning, and answered within a working day.

Tram, bus, bike — and the truth about parking
Stoneybatter is a fifteen-minute walk from the top of Grafton Street and a great deal easier to reach without a car. Here is everything we would tell you on the phone.
Bus
The 37, 39 and 70 all stop on Manor Street, two minutes away — get off at the church and walk down past the butcher. From the city centre it is about twelve minutes off-peak. The 46a on the quays leaves you a ten-minute walk along Blackhall Place.
Cycling
There is a Dublinbikes stand on Prussia Street, three minutes away, and it is usually the emptiest one in the district at eight o'clock. We also put two Sheffield racks outside the door — lock up under the light, it is covered by the camera over the porch.
Parking
We have no car park — the yard is where the wood is stacked. On-street parking on Marlowe Street and Arbour Hill is paid until 19:00 and free after, so an eight o'clock table usually parks for nothing. If you are here for lunch, the Smithfield multi-storey is a seven-minute walk and takes cards at the barrier.
Accessibility
Step-free from the Marlowe Street footpath straight into the dining room, with an accessible WC on the ground floor and space to turn between the tables. The Loft, though, is up one flight of stairs and there is no lift — a 130-year-old coach house will only give us so much. Large-print menus and the full allergen folder are at the host stand, and assistance dogs are always welcome. Tell us when you book and we will hold a table near the door.

Before you write
Four things we're asked most
Almost certainly. Everything found in the room goes into a wooden box behind the bar and stays there six weeks — scarves, single gloves, one remarkably persistent umbrella. Email hello@emberandoak.example.com with the date you were in and roughly where you sat, and we'll go through it. We can hold it at the bar for you or post it anywhere in Ireland at cost.
Always at the zinc bar — eight seats, first come, full menu, and in our opinion the best place to eat here on your own. Tables are a different story: weekends are usually gone ten days ahead, but midweek before seven there is very often something. Ring 01 555 0184 on the day and we'll tell you the honest answer rather than the hopeful one.
We do — any amount from €50, valid five years, and they can be spent on anything: food, wine, or the whole “At the Hearth” set menu at €72 a head. Email hello@emberandoak.example.com and we'll either post a letterpress card anywhere in Ireland or send a PDF the same day if the birthday is, as it often is, tomorrow.
Photographs of your own table, your own dinner and your own companions: always fine, and the light at the bar is better than it looks. Anything with a tripod, a light stand or a crew needs arranging first — email events@emberandoak.example.com. We schedule shoots before 16:00 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so nobody ends up in the background of someone else's work while trying to eat.
